We see a world where every human uses their skills, knowledge, passion, and talents to self-realize and to serve humanity. Facilitated through transformed pedagogy, we aim to empower educators to accompany children and youth as they define their contribution to humanity.
The Problem We Are Solving
So much of education has become in service of a standardized test - devoid of zest, purpose, joy, and passion. Student motivation is at an all time low and there has been a staggering increase of depression and anxiety amongst children, youth, and even adults. When students graduate and continue their college and career trajectory, many continue to feel a lack of passion and purpose, robotically chasing “success” -- a narrative heavily emphasized in our traditional US K-12 system.
We believe education should be in service of students finding their passion and purpose in order to both better themselves and better society. If ed leaders and teachers deepen their understanding of the essential oneness of humanity, the station of children and youth, and their ability to build an ever-advancing civilization, their pedagogical approach would transform, thereby re-invigorating their passion for education, and also creating an experience for students that is inherently motivating.
At Educate With Purpose we do just that - transform teachers’ and ed leaders’ approach to teaching through our workshops, coaching, and online modules.
About Us
At Educate With Purpose, our sole desire is to serve one of humanity’s most pressing issues. We believe that “man [is] a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom” (Baha’u’llah).
We believe in the “twofold purpose” which is a framework that explains two unified processes in our lives - to both develop ourselves individually and to serve the collective community - “both in our material and spiritual dimensions of reality.” Improving one necessarily improves the other, and it is a dynamic, symbiotic relationship that should not be falsely dichotomized. “Man is organic with the world. His inner life moulds the environment and is itself also deeply affected by it.”
As lifelong educators and educational leaders, we created Educate With Purpose to fulfill the urgent need educational systems around the world have to reinvigorate a sense of purpose in our educational system. We do this by tapping into the most influential group of people on the planet as it relates to molding our future civilization: teachers. Teachers shape and nurture students, alongside their parents, and can influence how a student uses her/his unique attributes to serve humanity.
Meet the Founder
Dr. Mona Kiani, Ed.D
Founder, CEO
A former middle and high school mathematics teacher, teacher trainer, coach for administrators, and director of partner success at various EdTech startups, Dr. Mona Kiani is passionate about transforming the field of education with engaging, real-world learning experiences for students and the community that result in social action. She founded Educate With Purpose with over 15 years of experience in education and in Ed Tech both locally and internationally. She is passionate about addressing the needs of the whole child and engaging families as partners in that endeavor, especially for the most underserved communities.
She has a Doctorate Degree from UC San Diego in Educational Leadership with research focusing on how to support at-risk students with emotional intelligence, a Master’s Degree in Education from UCLA, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Managerial Economics from UC Davis. She’s been a guest lecturer in University Teacher Ed Programs, conferences, and the 2016 recipient of the National InspirED Changemaker award given by Yale.
Mona currently serves on the Board of Directors for The True Human Excellence Institute in Austin, TX and on the Board of Advisors for FreeFuse. Her diverse experiences within the field of education allow her to best serve the various needs of our partners and as a leader in our organization.
Dr. Mona has been an excellent consultant towards our goals in developing educational focused technology! She's been incredibly innovative and resourceful in terms of her ideas and implementation strategies. She has helped us create a strategy for webinars and also new product feature ideas which are incredible towards our goals of improving student engagement in the classroom!
